I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure X-Ray Vision doesn't work that way.

For me, a bigger question than "How does Supes' X-ray vision work?" is "Is Supes' X-ray vision carcinogenic?".

I read somewhere that, after Roussos inked a Neal Adams "Deadman" story, Adams told DC that Roussos darn well better not ink him again.
